The initiative to create a hydrogen infrastructure is meant to be a milestone on the way towards a new technology. In Berlin eight representatives of leading corporations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding together with Wolfgang Tiefensee, Federal Minister of Transport, Building and Urban Affairs. The partners want to find out if and how hydrogen can be supplied in Germany across the whole country so that the series production of electrically powered cars can be pushed ahead. By means of this document, which is small but a big step forward, the corporations want to make a decisive step in the direction of the commercialisation of emission-free electric cars, said Tiefensee. It is our objective to establish a supply of hydrogen in Germany wherever possible across the whole country so that we can start the series production of fuel cell cars around 2015, said Federal Minister Tiefensee at a press conference in Berlin. Partners of the H2 Mobility initiative are Daimler, EnBW, Linde, OMV, Shell, Total, Vattenfall and NOW GmbH (Nationale Organisation Wasserstoff- und Brennstoffzellentechnologie (National Organisation on Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Technology). I am really happy that across the branches of industry competitors have joined to go to share the journey towards the launching of hydrogen and fuel cell applications, Tiefensee was glad to say.
